Due to some technical difficulties, we are postponing our 5/20 meeting at which we planned to view several stereo slide shows. Larry is ironing out some compatibility issues with MS Vista and the graphics cards required to run the shows. We'll post an update as soon as we're able to reschedule. I'm sure it will be worth the wait!
Next Meeting : New Member Night 4/16
Just a reminder about our next club meeting. We're having a "New Member Night" on Tuesday, April 15th @ 7pm at the Provo Library. We'd like to take this opportunity to to welcome any new people, get to know each other, review club membership, calendar of events, discuss competition guidelines, and have a hands on 3D photo tutorial.
We'd like to encourage everyone to bring a one or two photos they've taken ("flatties" are ok if you don't have any stereo to show), and an appropriate viewer -- anaglyphs, slides in a hand-held viewer, stereo cards, etc. are all easy to share.
After introductions and club business, we'll take some cha-cha stereo shots around the library then edit in Stereo Photo Maker as time allows. If you're new to stereo, this is a great way to start! Bring a digital camera if you'd like. We'll have at least two laptop computers available to run SPM, or likewise, you may bring your own.
We look forward to seeing you there!
March Meeting Recap (Digital Night)
We had about 20 people come out for our March meeting on digital stereo. I missed the February meeting, so this was my first time meeting at the Provo Library. The room there is a fantastic space for our group, and I think we're lucky to have it.
Larry Haines brought his digital projectors and a slideshow of some recent digital photos he has taken with his twin rig. This was his first time moving and setting up the projectors at the library, but once some adjustments were made, we were able to enjoy the show.
One of our newer members, Veloy Cook, showed several of his first digital slide bar photos, which included some nice landscapes of Utah Lake. Here are two of the images he shared with us (click for larger view):
Ken Luker also showed some family snapshots he took to test out his new LANC controller and two-camera setup. Ken brought the cameras to show, but we ran out of time before he had a chance to talk about them. I'm sure we'll have another opportunity soon. We're looking forward to seeing some excellent digital submissions at our competition in May.
There were several other new faces at the meeting, but I didn't have a chance to meet everyone. In April, we're having a new member night, and we hope to all get better acquainted.
Intro to Stereo Workshop
The Utah Stereo Society will be presenting a workshop at the March 20th meeting of the Wasatch Camera Club. The workshop will highlight various 3D formats and equipment, and will a include demonstration on how to make stereo images using a single digital camera. We'll also have a brief slideshow using polarized projection and a "show and tell" table for Q&A after the workshop. Come see how fun 3D can be -- we hope to see you there!
The Wasatch Camera Club meets at the Columbus Community Center, 2531 S. 400 E., Salt Lake City, Utah. Doors open at 6, meeting starts at 7pm.
